Mr. Robben joined Quality Testing and Engineering, Inc. (QTE) as a Geotechnical Manager in March 2022. He has approximately 24 years of experience in civil engineering. His past responsibilities include management of engineers, technicians and drilling crews for preparation of geotechnical reports and proposals for subsurface explorations, providing foundation and site development recommendations.
Areas of expertise include bridge structures, dewatering, earthwork/site grading, foundation studies, geophysical methods, lagoons, retaining systems, slope stability/stabilization and soil improvement/modifications. Expertise includes deep and shallow foundation design, retaining walls, slope stability, rock wedges/cutoff trenches, subgrade improvement alternatives and stone trenches for wall foundation reinforcement. Deep foundations include auger pressure grouted piles, drilled shafts with rock sockets, driven steel H-piles/pipe piles and ground improvement elements.
Construction phase Quality Control/Quality Assurance expertise includes standard aggregate, concrete and soil testing for over 15 years. Many projects using deep soil/shot rock fills, fine sand fills, settlement monitoring/surcharging of fills upon soft sediments, blast monitoring/excavation observations and both soil slope and retaining wall failure analysis/repair recommendations. Geophysical methods included cross-hole sonic logging of drilled shafts, coring of deficient drilled piers then using a down-hole camera to observe the deficient zone. Geophysical seismic methods were also used to aid in drilled pier design and determining bedrock velocities to increase bearing capacity and site seismic classification. Concrete forensics include curling, curing issues, flatness/levelness, floor moisture, finishing, fire exposed, expired air entrainment, laminated and low compressive/flexural strength issues.

Park Express, Rome Circle, Runway 1L-19R, Taxiway B and Terminal Modernization), Kirksville, Jefferson City Memorial, Lamar, Lees Summit, Macon, Neosho, St. Joseph (Rosecrans), Sedalia, Warrensburg and Warsaw.
Transportation projects for Kansas City and Missouri Department of Transportation include Highway 273 over Interstate 29, Interstate 35 and 19th Street, Interstate 435 South Loop Link, Interstate 44 Green County, Kansas City Area Transit Authority, Kansas City Street Car (Crown Center to The Plaza), Rock Island Shared Use Path, Route 24 Four Bridge Replacements, Route DD Bridge Replacement, Tiffany Springs Road over Interstate 29 and Waukomis Drive.
Ameren Callaway Nuclear Power Plant, Ameren Duck Creek Power Plant, Clinton Nuclear Power Plant, Gibson City Ethanol Plant, Kraft Plant Additions, Monsanto Seed Plant, Spartan Metals Addition and Twin Groves Wind Farm.

USEPA projects included Grand Island, Nebraska, Emergency Response Pipeline Release, Marshall, Michigan, Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant (Grand Island, Nebraska), Former Hanley Area-St. Louis Ordinance Plant (St. Louis, Missouri), Former Naval Ammunition Depot (Hastings, Nebraska), and Iowa Army Ammunition Plant (Middletown, Iowa).
Commercial projects included 1400 Baltimore, 19th and Oak, Beacon Hill, Burns & McDonnell Headquarters Expansion, City Club Apartments, Evergreen Apartments, Grand Plaza, General Forensics, Linwood Commercial, Former Lyric Building-New YMCA, Northland Fire Station, The Yards, T-Shotz Golf, Two Light Tower and West Bottom Flats.
Walmart construction in Missouri included Arnold, Bowling Green, Chesterfield, Fenton, Fredericktown, High Ridge, Manchester, Maplewood, O’Fallon, St. Peters and Telegraph. Illinois locations included Beardstown, Bellville, Bloomington, Canton, Carbondale, Carlinville, Harrisburg, Jacksonville, Lawrenceville, Marshall, O’Fallon, Springfield, O’ Fallon, Olney, Quincy, Robinson and Springfield.
