About Us

Quality Testing and Engineering, Inc. (QTE) was founded by Michael A. Widman in April of 2000 to provide a wide variety of construction material testing, geotechnical engineering, and other development services.

To better address the growing needs of clients, Mr. Jack Mutchler was hired in 2002 to manage and expand the environmental, archaeological, and wetland consulting services. The company soon gained a reputation for providing quality, timely service. Within two years of operation, QTE experienced substantial growth, which warranted additional professional staff. Mr. Wayne Smith, Soil Scientist and Mr. Eric Marlinghaus, PE joined QTE in 2002 and 2003, respectively. QTE’s excellent reputation began to earn recognition in Missouri, resulting in the opening of QTE. A regional office in Wentzville on March 1, 2006.

A dedicated professional staff and state-of-the-art technology assure QTE’s ability to continue its tradition of premium service to clients. QTE technicians are ACI, MODOT, and IDOT certified.

QTE stays involved in the local community. The company is a member of the Chamber of Commerce for Belleville and O’Fallon, Illinois and Wentzville, Missouri.

  • Dear Mike, As we approach the completion of the subject 1,000,000 square foot distribution center in Edwardsville, IL. I would like to thank and compliment you on behalf of Hershey Foods Corporation for the engineering support and onsite monitoring, testing, and reporting performed by your company that has been a big part of making this project a success. Starting with our Request for a Proposal for a detailed Geotechnical Study in March 2003 and follow up soils design issues to support our May 2003 start date, your service and advice has been technically excellent, complete and timely in support of our aggressive construction schedule. Without question, you and your field personnel have supported our needs and made sure our interests were addressed and satisfied. Hershey Foods Corporation insists work be performed and verified to high standards, starting the first day of construction, while still maintaining schedule and budget. In today’s fast-track world, once the decision to proceed with a project is made, this requires a knowledgeable construction and engineering team be pulled together quickly to settle design issues as well as establishing an inspection program to control quality. Quality Testing and Engineering was a key player in the soils, concrete and paving design as well as site monitoring, testing, and reporting for these areas and site monitoring and reporting for structural steel. The knowledge, dedication, and professionalism of your design and field personnel as well as their willingness to work whatever hours it took in support of the construction effort is greatly appreciated.
